Korean Ritual-Inspired Skincare Tips

Recently, I was invited to get a mini-facial at Savor Beauty by their rep, Kyung. Savor Beauty is a Korean-Ritual inspired and natural Skincare Brand based out of New York. Though they don’t have a retail store in San Francisco, they do have a booth inside of Neiman Marcus (which, if you haven’t been you should definitely go. It’s stunning in there).

Kyung, who happens to be from South Korea herself, was very educated in skincare and beauty (she is an aesthetician after all). I had the pleasure of not only getting an amazing mini-facial from her (she’s great at facial massages), but she even gave me TONS of skincare tips!

See below for her tips and let me know if you guys have any questions!

Kyung’s Skincare Tips and Secrets

  1. Your skin needs (good) oils and water: Drink more water, Apply more oil.

  2. Kyung mentioned that double (or even triple) cleansing a big Korean skincare secret is or triple cleansing! This basically means what it sounds like, cleansing your face twice (or three times). Kyung said this is important in order to clean off the dead skin and (bad) oils and in order to tighten your pores (Savor Beauty’s Champagne Cleanser is great for this).

  3. Be gentle with the skin underneath and around your eyes as this is the most sensitive skin you have on your body. When applying product around/beneath your eyes, do so in by tapping on the product with one finger for each eye, and you can massage around your eyes in a circular or infinity motion.

  4. Avoid using a paper towel or towel to dry your face. This is too harsh on your skin. Instead, tap your face dry with your hands.

  5. Something I mentioned and Kyung agreed with* –– Your skin is ultimately a reflection of what’s going on inside of your body (from the food you are eating, to your stress levels). So stay healthy inside and out: move your body, drink water, eat your fruits and veggies, and manage your stress levels. Great

  6. Drink Ginseng tea. Great for managing stress and for your skin!

  7. When it comes to rollers: Jade Rollers are more for repair (even great for back pain! Lol NEED) and Rose Quartz have antioxidants

  8. Wear sunscreen every day! Sun damage causes aging, sunspots, and skin cancer.

  9. Cold Constitution vs Hot Constitution: When Kyung touched my face, she said, “Wow your skin is warm! No wonder you have eczema and dry skin.” I was honestly so excited and I was like, “Wait, tell me more!!!” She said that we each need to figure out how our body is conditioned. For me, I have to drink lukewarm and warm drinks vs iced (this will be a hard one for me, lol). She said that cold and iced drinks will make your body hot (you’re putting in cold, you get out hot) which makes your skin dry! You want your skin to be cool to avoid dryness.

  10. When you’re about to apply moisturizer or any kind of cream that is in a jar, don’t use your hand to remove the product from the jar. Use a spatula instead. Our hands have microorganisms and you can contaminate the product.

  11. After applying moisturizer, tap 2x and then press onto your skin with your hands. The product penetrates deeper into your skin and you get more out of the product.
Kyung’s skin was glowing! I knew I could trust her tips haha.
Thank you so much for the amazing facial and the tips, Kyung, and thank you Savor Beauty and Neiman Marcus for having me!
